| THE FRASSATI TRAIL IN CALABRIA inaugurated June 28, 1998 WHERE: from Mongiana to Serra San Bruno (Vibo Valentia) TIME: h 7 ELEVATION DIFFERENCE: m 480 DIFFICULTY: E "Looped" route between Mongiana (home of one of the best equipped centers of the Italian Forestry Corps in the South) and Serra San Bruno (universal heart of Carthusian spirituality). The Calabrese itinerary's particular feature is to add to the usual considerable spiritual, historical and naturalistic aspects, also significant traces of industrial archeology (with the remains of the Royal Bourbon iron works in Mongiana) and mountain anthropology (with the rare presence of the coalers in the area of the route). Lastly, there is the absolute novelty of a museum path (through the small but fascinating Museum of the Chartreuse of Serra San Bruno) which for the first time is an integral part of an excursion itinerary. |
